Eurocargo CNG wins prestigious Sustainable Truck of the Year award

The Eurocargo CNG has been crowned Sustainable Truck of the Year in the Distribution category due to its versatile and sustainable features. The Sustainable Truck of the Year awards, established in 2016 by the Italian trade magazine Vado e Torno, are awarded every year by an independent jury of industry journalists. The judges' choices take into account several factors, including sustainability, efficiency – from an emission-reduction perspective – as well as safety and driver comfort.

The jury commented on the award assignment: **“**Eurocargo has featured throughout truck history over the past three decades, maintaining its appeal and competitiveness without ever changing its basic approach and philosophy. Even in its latest version, the Eurocargo continues to embody above all the versatility that has allowed it to successfully take on and fulfil such a wide range of uses, while at the same time boasting an even more elegant style and expanding its range of features.”

The Eurocargo, IVECO’s flagship vehicle in the medium-weight segment, has been in production since 1991 and is one of the most innovative industrial vehicles ever conceived – as demonstrated by its sales success. It was developed on a modular cab platform, allowing for high levels of customization. Production takes place at the iconic brand facility in Brescia, which has been home to all generations of the Eurocargo. The plant combines a rich history with cutting-edge technological innovation.

The new Eurocargo is the most advanced version ever produced in the longstanding range: the redesigned digital cockpit, new ADAS, digital services driven by advanced connectivity and even greater sustainability due to the extended CNG range make Eurocargo the truck everyone wants to drive.

Specifically, the Eurocargo is equipped with a new generation of Tector 7 (N67) CNG engines designed and manufactured by FPT Industrial that are available for the entire range – the only vehicle in the 12-18 tonne range to offer natural gas to operators looking for emission-reducing solutions. In addition, the 6.7-litre CNG engine is available in three versions: 220 hp, 250 hp and 280 hp. In addition to greater capacity and power, the Eurocargo also offers best-in-category fuel consumption, together with a reduction in CO2 emissions of up to 10 per cent. That means that the Eurocargo is also a valuable partner in achieving environmental and social sustainability, acting as a perfect ambassador for the circular economy due to its use of biomethane.

The Eurocargo’s versatility translates into its use of new technologies and a multi-energy approach across the entire range making it “the right fit for every mission”
