Enter the Yutong TE7 – a purpose-built electric truck developed to meet the complex demands of urban logistics with zero compromise on power, payload, or performance.

As the UK truck market accelerates toward electrification, a new contender is poised to redefine the 7.5-tonne sector. Enter the Yutong TE7 – a purpose-built electric truck developed to meet the complex demands of urban logistics with zero compromise on power, payload, or performance.

The Market Opportunity

The 7.5-tonne truck segment may be niche, but it’s indispensable to the UK’s commercial vehicle landscape. Accounting for around 3,000 unit sales annually, it’s the second-largest category above the 6-tonne GVW mark, prized for its versatility in dense urban areas. From last-mile deliveries and municipal services to construction and utility operations, these trucks are relied on for their agility, reliability, and payload performance.

As the sector faces growing environmental scrutiny and tightening emission standards, the demand for zero-emission vehicles is intensifying. Electrification is no longer a future ambition—it’s a present-day imperative. That’s where Yutong and Pelican Engineering step in.

A Strategic Alliance for a Changing Market

Yutong is no newcomer to electric mobility. A global leader in electric buses and commercial vehicles, the brand brings decades of drivetrain innovation and large-scale deployment experience to the table. In the UK, it partners with Pelican Engineering, a century-old institution with a stellar reputation for vehicle distribution and support.

Pelican has already helped establish Yutong’s electric buses as a benchmark in public transport electrification. Now, with the TE7, the duo is set to make an equally bold mark on the UK’s commercial trucking scene.

Meet the Yutong TE7

Purpose-built for urban logistics, the Yutong TE7 combines cutting-edge electric drivetrain technology with intelligent design. At its core is a high-power motor delivering 200kW of peak power and 470Nm of torque. The motor is mated to a centrally mounted high-capacity LFP battery pack, available in 100kWh or 132kWh configurations, and protected to IP68+IP6K9K standards—more than capable of enduring Britain’s demanding weather and road conditions.
