Flexible and tough: Labcraft’s Orizon FLEX revolutionises LED lighting for commercial vehicles

Labcraft, the UK’s industry leader in LED lighting for commercial vehicles, has launched the Orizon FLEX – a robust, R10-approved flexible strip light engineered specifically for the rigours of automotive use.

Unlike many off-the-shelf LED strips, the Orizon FLEX has been purpose-designed for the automotive sector, addressing common failure points of traditional lighting solutions. It features built-in constant-current regulation, reverse polarity protection, and transient voltage suppression, which add up to ensure consistent performance across voltage ranges (12V and 24V systems), protect against electrical surges, and guarantee longevity under demanding operating conditions.

“The Orizon FLEX is a game changer for commercial vehicle operators,” explains Technical Director, Jamie Petit, “it’s incredibly versatile, ultra-reliable, and R10 approved – a standard few in the market can meet. We’ve taken every weakness of conventional flexible LED strips and solved it with automotive-grade engineering.”

The strip delivers a powerful 500 lumens per metre from just 5W/m, with a cool white colour temperature of 7,000K–8,000K. The innovative circuit layout features a full control circuit every 250mm and ensures uniform light output along the full length of the strip, eliminating the dimming effect often seen in longer LED installations.

Built for adaptability and reliability, the all-new strip features a flexible, low-profile design (13x5mm) and is easy to mount on vehicle surfaces using high-strength 3M automotive adhesive tape. Its highly flexible structure allows it to contour around curves or fit within narrow recesses and cabinets – such as those on fire engines or mobile workshops.

Protected to the IP69K standard, the strip resists high-pressure jet washes, and is built to withstand harsh environments.

Suitable for internal or external applications, the Orizon FLEX is ideal for a wide range of vehicle types, including:

  • Trailers & refrigerated trailers

  • Emergency vehicles

  • Box and Luton vans

  • Rigid trucks

  • Specialist utility and service vehicles

Manufacturers can fully integrate the Orizon FLEX into a Truck-Lite plug-and-play harness system, offering a streamlined installation with auxiliary and mandatory lighting – a testament to the power of the Labcraft and Truck-Lite partnership, now delivering one of the most comprehensive automotive lighting solutions on the market.

Jamie adds: “Body builders are under increasing pressure to reduce installation time, boost reliability, and deliver high-quality conversions. Orizon FLEX saves time with its adhesive backing and plug-and-play compatibility and reduces long-term maintenance through its advanced protective features.”

The product has already been adopted by leading manufacturers, including specialists in refrigerated and emergency vehicles, where lighting performance and resilience are paramount. R10.06 EMC certification means it is cleared for use on vehicles across the UK and Europe.

Labcraft’s commitment to quality is further reinforced by its three-year manufacturer’s warranty, and all lights are designed and tested at the company’s ISO9001/14001-accredited production facility.

As the transport and logistics sectors demand smarter, more reliable vehicle lighting, Labcraft continues to lead the way with lighting systems built from the ground up, specifically for commercial vehicles.

The Orizon FLEX will be on display at the Road Transport Expo (RTX) at NAEC Stoneleigh from 24-26 June. To find out more about it and Labcraft’s full product range, visit www.labcraft.co.uk
